Local High Schools Receive Grants
Local High Schools Receive Grants
May 23, 2005
TEMECULA ---- With California schools losing more of their budgets each year, the prospect of a good education for the state's children can sometimes look uncertain.
Funding academics, extracurricular activities, athletics, scholarship programs and much more often times becomes too much for one school or school district alone to bear. As a steadfast member and supporter of its community, the tribal leaders, as well as the management of Pechanga Resort & Casino, understand the value of making sure children and teachers alike receive the resources they need to receive and provide a viable education.
That's why the Pechanga tribe readily makes a yearly donation of $50,000 each to the seven local high schools in the Temecula Valley. On May 16, 2005, representatives from those seven high schools including principals, teachers and students who the sum directly affects, gathered together with the members of the Pechanga Development Corporation for a great photo opportunity and to receive their schools check.
Perhaps more importantly, however, it was an opportunity for the Pechangas to thank the leaders of the local high schools for doing such an outstanding job and for setting the high standards the area's students need to succeed both within the community, as well as throughout their lives.
The check presentation took place on Monday, May 16th inside Pechanga's Grand Ballroom. Members of the press were present to talk with school representatives, teachers, students, the Temecula Valley school superintendent, David Allmen, school board members and others. The four members of the Pechanga Development Corporation, the elected governing body which oversees the tribe's business affairs, were also be on hand.
High schools receiving $50,000 checks include Great Oak High School, Temecula Valley High School, Chaparral High School, Temescal Canyon High School, Elsinore High School, Murrieta Valley High School and Vista Murrieta High School.
