Pechanga Tribal Nation

The Nursery

The Pechanga Nursery revitalizes the relationship between our society and our aboriginal land — in particular, the indigenous plant world and our environment. In practice, this is called ethnobotany: the study of how we use indigenous plants for such things as food, shelter, medicine, clothing, hunting and religious ceremonies.

Our worldview is rooted in the practice of balance and sustainability. The Pechanga Cultural Center is raising needed awareness about the intrinsic value of our original local plants in our practices and our landscaping, and the problems caused by introduced plants. The desire to preserve our local culture is a force that can be harnessed to preserve our landscape. Much work is being done in this arena to compliment and expand our work at the Villages.
